Robert La Tourneaux was an American actor best known for his role as Cowboy in the controversial 1970 film "The Boys in the Band." La Tourneaux was born on March 22, 1944, in San Francisco, California. He attended Yale University and later studied theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
La Tourneaux's performance in "The Boys in the Band" received critical acclaim, but he struggled to find significant acting roles after the film's release. He appeared in a few stage productions and television shows, but never achieved the same level of success as his breakout role.
Tragically, La Tourneaux struggled with drug addiction and died of complications from AIDS at the age of 37 on June 3, 1986. Despite his brief career, La Tourneaux is remembered for his groundbreaking role in "The Boys in the Band" and for his contribution to LGBTQ representation in film.
